Meet Marian, our tutoring company’s franchisee owner on Vancouver Island:

I am excited to start on a new career path in the education field as the Owner of School Is Easy Vancouver Island Ltd. It will be a big change from teaching English as a Second Language to adult immigrants, which I enjoyed doing for 12 years. I graduated as a mature student from University of Saskatchewan with B.A. (Psych) and earned a TESOL Certificate concurrently, then began working with illiterate adult refugees. My spark for teaching ignited with those students; and it has not dimmed over the years.

For the last several years, I have been researching how business operates and attending learning events geared towards running a small business. When I moved to Vancouver Island from Saskatchewan in 2016, it gave me the opportunity to explore different career options and I purchased the School Is Easy Vancouver Island franchise. I have had many jobs in the past (legal secretary, realtor, DNA data specialist for livestock) but the role of business owner has been a wake-up call, one that I am enjoying fully.
