Born and raised in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, Susan Cumberland has had a distinguished educational journey. She earned her Bachelor of Education from the University of British Columbia. Susan’s passion for teaching took her from BC’s public schools to Japan, where she taught English full-time for 3.5 years. In Japan, shehad the honor of teaching the secretaries of Prime Minister Yasuhiro Nakasone. Susan’s vibrant personality led to appearances on Japanese sitcoms, drama series, movies, and TV commercials.

After her time in Japan, Susan Cumberland’s commitment to education led her to San Diego, California, where she pursued a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. There, she worked as an English instructor and became the Assistant Coordinator of San Diego State University’s Intensive English Programs, one of the most extensive ESL programs in the United States. Her dedication continued when she returned to Vancouver, becoming the marketing manager of an ESL college, recruiting students and traveling through South America and Asia.

In 2002, after adopting a baby from China and welcoming another child, she founded School is Easy, a tutoring business that quickly expanded and began franchising in 2009. In 2017, LaunchLife International acquired Susan’s School is Easy franchise, introducing a state-of-the-art management system and an on-demand app.

Currently, Susan manages two franchise locations: Tri-Cities/New West and Surrey/Delta. Her leadership and vision have significantly contributed to the growth and success of these locations. Susan’s hands-on approach ensures high service and educational excellence standards are maintained, fostering a supportive and thriving learning environment.
